Microsoft Office Accounting Software discontinued

Accounting Software has a huge market and we see a lot of competitions from small Software Development firms to the software giants like Microsoft. And because of this competition, we see some Accounting Software come by and suddenly disappears.

While SEO’ing my blog, building links in particular, I have stumbled upon this bad news about Microsoft’s decision to discontinue the Microsoft Office Accounting Software. Their main reason for doing this according to their press release: “We have determined that existing free templates within Office used with Excel was a better option for small businesses, and the Microsoft Dynamics ERP products were appropriate for mid-range organizations”.

Microsoft Office Accounting Software is barely 3 years old and it is yet to make a good impact in the Accounting Software business and yet it was ended. You may read the rest of the articles at AccountingWEB.

The Software giant(I am referring to Microsoft) has made a bad decision 3 years ago when it released the MS Accounting Office. They probably spent millions of dollars just by developing and marketing the software only to find out 3 years later that some of their existing products can do the job that MS Accounting Office does far better than expected.

Conclusion…Microsoft has made a bad mistake.

I was really surprised to hear that the world’s biggest software company makes a mistake like this. It is very obvious that Microsoft is only good at making Operating Systems and Programming Languages and also some Application Software. The Accounting Software business is not their nich obviously and besides the Accounting Software business is just as complicated as making Operating Systems or Computer Hardware Design.
